No, you do not need a referral from a physician for a physical therapy evaluation or to participate in any of our wellness programs.
To date, most insurance companies do not provide coverage for wellness-based programs. EW Wellness programs are self-pay. If you have a medical diagnosis that meets the criteria of medical necessity, we can work with you to schedule an appointment with our physical therapy department.
Yes, we accept most insurance, including BCBS, Medicare, UHC, Tricare, Viva, and many more. Physical therapy coverage limits are policy specific. Possibly. BCBS of Alabama will cover an evaluation, subject to policy limits, without a physician referral. However, most other insurance providers still require a referral from a doctor for insurance reimbursement of an evaluation. For treatment to commence after evaluation, a physical therapy plan of care must be signed by your physician. The easiest way to ensure coverage is to have a physical therapy referral in hand from your physician at the time of scheduling your evaluation or have your physician send your referral directly to the clinic. The three primary ways are: 1) Your doctor can refer you directly to us, 2) you can ask your physician for a referral, or 3) you can come at your discretion for an EW physical therapy evaluation.
Medical doctors, dentists, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, and chiropractors can refer patients to EW PT for physical therapy services.
EW Motion therapists and specialists are an elite group of credentialed professionals, many with doctoral degrees, who were selected for their intellectual and professional accomplishments as well as their shared beliefs. We view the body as an integrated system and believe that optimal motion is defined by the balance in mind and body. For physical therapy services, you will be treated by a licensed physical therapist.
Yes. A client liaison will work with you to complete all intake paperwork. Please arrive 15-30 minutes prior to your initial visit to ensure all intake forms are complete and your session will start on time.
We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and neurological and motion dysfunctions. From joint pain, spinal dysfunction, general orthopedics and post-operative rehabilitation to gait and balance dysfunction and women’s health issues, we design individualized programs to get you moving and feeling better. For wellness services, wear comfortable clothes that allow for easy movement and supportive shoes, such as tennis or running shoes for wellness services. For physical therapy services, we can provide you with shorts and gowns as needed.
Please allow approximately one hour to two hours. Your first appointment, which will be an initial evaluation, maybe longer. Please arrive 30 minutes early for all initial visits. We offer a 30-minute EW Consult with a physical therapist or motion specialist that can be used to learn more about our approach and the programming that would best help you achieve your motion goals
Yes. In order to not be charged, you must cancel at least 24 hours before your session or appointment. We reserve the right to charge $50 for failure to cancel a physical therapy appointment or the full price of a wellness program for failure to cancel a session.
No, we do not provide childcare. Physical therapy patients are welcome to bring family members to treatments. For safety reasons, we ask that small children stay with you during your physical therapy session. Children are not allowed to accompany you to group wellness classes.
