Myofascial Release: The goals of myofascial release techniques are to decrease tissue restrictions, improve posture, and improve body awareness. The result is improved mobility and function. How do myofascial techniques work? The fascial system is a complex, multi-dimensional, continual web matrix that is fully integrated throughout our bodies. The fascial system enables motion through its continuity and its structural support of the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and cardiovascular systems. Mobilizing restrictions in the myofascial system helps our bodies’ unique anatomy and physiology to function at an optimal level.

Joint Mobilization: Restrictions in joint mobility often result in pain, loss of range of motion, and decreased mobility. The goals of joint mobilization are to restore healthy motion and reduce pain. Joint mobilization techniques are hands on, applied in a safe and effective manner, and often combined with other techniques to improve the effectiveness of a session.

Therapeutic Stretching: Therapeutic stretching is used to mobilize restricted myofascia, decrease pain, and improve function. Stretching techniques are individualized and targeted for maximum effect. A typical EW Body session will incorporate stretching.

Recovery Techniques: We teach as we treat. We incorporate the benefits of relaxation, breath, and the use of implements to promote tissue mobilityand to decrease pain.

Why Choose EW?

Since 1999, EW Motion Therapy has offered treatments that are medically-based, diligently measured, and produce good outcomes. Our experience with Dry Needling has demonstrated its effectiveness in addressing pain, restoring function, and improving mobility caused by the dysfunctional motor and/or trigger points. Both patient testimonials and clinical outcomes, consistently support its effectiveness in decreasing pain, reducing tension, and restoring normal muscle function. At EW, our focus is on the whole body, corrective interventions designed to help you move better, feel better, and live better! Every EW dry needling client performs a functional movement analysis designed to assist the clinician in determining the most appropriate treatment application and to assess effectiveness. Dry needling sessions may be performed as an adjunct technique during a physical therapy treatment session, as a stand-alone rehab intervention, or as a valuable tool in a wellness/training program. All EW physical therapists utilizing the Dry Needling Technique are certified in its application.

What is EW Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is a therapeutic technique that involves using a fine filament needle to treat a painful or dysfunctional motor or trigger point in a muscle to bring about symptom relief and regain normal functional mobility. At EW, our therapists are certified in the use of dry needling and apply this technique after a thorough functional movement analysis. This analysis allows the therapist to identify the movement faults stemming from the myofascial trigger point. When the trigger point is released, the pain resolves and movement is normalized.

I have been coming to EW for over 10 years. I was initially referred by my doctor for physical therapy and have subsequently continued on a regular basis with EW Body. In my opinion, the distinguishing factors that set EW apart from other groups are the private rooms, consistency of care and focus of treatment. Additionally, the quality of customer service is always excellent. The treatment and wellness/exercise/prevention tips that I receive have been of great value to my mobility and overall function! I have been an EW physical therapy and Pilates client for about a year and a half. The EW staff works with a sense of purpose and as a team with a goal of improving the function of their clients and patients. I have worked with Katherine and Kareth for PT and Kathy in Pilates and couldn’t be happier with my experience. They are extremely competent, caring and always positive—top of the line! Retired
Pilates is simply the best thing that I have discovered for injury prevention. I have been working with Angel at EW Tuscaloosa for Pilates for over two years. As a distance runner, I have been prone to injuries over the years, however, since I started Pilates at EW, I have reduced my injury incidence dramatically. I have found that I have been able to address strength, flexibility and balance all at one time while improving my body awareness and alignment. Angel is an incredible instructor and has a unique ability to communicate technique and get the most out of every exercise! About a year and a half ago, I faced a life-threatening situation when I had a carotid artery dissection. I wanted to continue to exercise during the long recovery and Angel worked with me to maintain my fitness. When I resumed running after 6 months, I did so injury free. Thank you EW for being here and thank you Angel! Professor
