Lead Pilates Instructor // EW Motion Therapy Tuscaloosa

Angel Davis is EW Motion Therapy Tuscaloosa’s lead Pilates instructor. Her passion is to return bodies to health and vitality through the movement principles of Pilates. Ivy Spencer, the lead Pilates instructor of EW Motion Therapy, states, “Angel is a true professional. She has countless hours of training, personal practice, and teaching experience. Having been classically trained, Angel programs traditional Pilates and is able to modify and accommodate each client’s unique potential.” As the lead Pilates Instructor in Tuscaloosa, Angel is responsible for individual and small group sessions, staff education, and Pilates operations, while staying active in continuing education. She has been classically trained with an emphasis in the Gentry Method developed by the late Eve Gentry. Angel is comprehensively trained which includes all apparatus such as the reformer, the Cadillac, barrels, chair, baby armchair, and the basis of the Pilates method, the mat.  Areas of interest include pre and post–natal Pilates programming, hip dysfunction, improving performance in the weekend warrior and the trained athlete, scoliosis, and working with senior clients to maintain independence through movement. She works extremely hard to bring the benefits of movement through Pilates to her community, promoting free and donation-based classes and workshops. Angel has a long, extensive background in Pilates. She began a personal practice in Pilates in 1999 while working full–time as a certified public accountant. Angel began training as a Pilates instructor in 2000 and has been instructing clients since in 2001. Angel has attended hundreds of hours of continued education workshops from the industry’s most respected master instructors, some of whome worked beside Mr. Joseph Pilates during his lifetime. Adhering to the principles of a healthy lifestyle, Angel stays active through a personal Pilates practice, gardening, travel, spending time with family, and trail running. A native of Centreville, Alabama, she has called Tuscaloosa home since 2002. Katie’s passion is encouraging and empowering her clients to reach their full potential. “Katie is caring, present, energetic, and promotes an atmosphere of positivity,” says Kevin Coleman, Clinical Director of EW Motion Therapy Tuscaloosa. “She expertly integrates patient education, manual therapy, and corrective exercise with a goal of restoring mobility and healthy movement patterns.” Katie is responsible for wellness and rehabilitation programs. She integrates Pilates and yoga principles with her foundation in physical therapy to develop customized, handson treatments. Katie has completed the EW Motion Therapy Pilates and Yoga training programs and advanced mat training. Additionally, she is LSVTBig Certified, giving her keen insight into designing programs that promote independence for clients with Parkinson’s and other neurological impairments. Her areas of interest include manual therapy, balance training and fall-risk reduction, treating patients with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions, pediatrics, and strength and conditioning in the geriatric client. Sarah’s passion is to support, encourage, and cheer for clients on their journey to transform their mobility and spirit. She recognizes the importance of positivity and authenticity. She strives to create a personal connection with every patient“Sarah makes everyone feel welcome,” says Kevin Coleman, Clinical Director of EW Motion Therapy Tuscaloosa. “She is caring and attentive.  As the first step in the patient’s healing process, she works extremely hard to make each client’s experience exceptional.” Sarah is responsible for scheduling, accounts receivables, customer service, insurance verification, and clinical support. Most importantly, Sarah creates a warm, safe, and welcoming environment at the Tuscaloosa clinic. Additionally, she serves as a Marketing Liaison to the Medical and Greater Tuscaloosa community. Her areas of interest include customer service, operational process, marketingand hospitality. Sarah stays active through civic and social organization involvement, swimming, biking and chasing her three toddlers. She loves spending time with her family. A native of Tuscaloosa, Sarah has lived there her whole life. She loves everything that Tuscaloosa, The University of Alabamaand the surrounding areas have to offer! Education: The University of Alabama, Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences in Hospitality Management (2009).
